FIDAice skating surfaces

The world novelty of the 21st century – environmentally friendly
Modern synthetic skating surfaces are the world novelty that has appeared only in the 21st century. First experiments reach back to the 1970s, but all ended poorly. Back then the science and industry weren’t able to develop synthetic materials, which would make skating with regular ice skates all through the year possible, irrespective of the weather. After numerous mistakes, delusions, mistrials and millions lost, at the beginning of the 21st century the industry in cooperation with top scientists finally managed to do what people had been dreaming about through centuries – that is, skating 365 days a year, irrespective of the weather.
Today there are only few factories that managed to transform all the scientific findings into practice, and thus are successful in producing synthetic skating surfaces. There is also one in Slovenia…
FIDAice skating surfaces were also tested by professional hockey players. For more videos click here.
